North Camurra to Crooble major track upgrade works
Our contractor Trans4m Rail will start operating on-track machines (rolling stock) between between North Camurra and Crooble as part of ongoing track construction works from Friday 4 March 2022.
Work being done
Works will generally occur between 7am and 6pm Monday to Sunday. Low impact activities such as machinery re-fueling, managing environmental controls and traffic control may also occur outside of these hours. Residents will be notified in advance of any out-of-hours work.
Residents should be aware that on-track machines, including the ballast train, will be active during these works. Please follow all traffic control signage at level crossings.
Works will involve:
- Installing concrete sleepers and new steel rail
- Flash butt welding of rail
- Installation of ballast
- Tamping the track to compact the ballast, sleepers and rail
- Reinstating traffic control and signage at level crossings.
What can I expect
- Rolling stock operating on the rail lines
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site via access gates
- Changed traffic conditions at level crossings
- Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Motorists should follow traffic controls and drive with caution.

How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic control and signage will be in place, where required
- Water carts will be on site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
