Short Street, Broadford site investigations and geotechnical investigation

From late February to March 2023, specialist contractors will conduct geotechnical investigations around Short Street bridge, Broadford to better understand ground conditions and inform the design of the new bridge.

What is happening

A mobile drill rig will be set up near the Short Street bridge,  Broadford. It will drill small holes in the ground (about 10cm diameter) which will be filled when work is finished.

During this period, Short Street bridge will be temporarily reduced to one lane, however access will be maintained.

Some properties will also have restricted driveway access but work crews will ensure access is maintained upon request.

Residents and motorists are asked to take care and observe all traffic management instructions and signage.

  • Nearby residents can expect some bore hole drilling noise during daylight hours
  • The drilling process will create small holes in the ground which will be filled in at the completion of the works
