Skills workshop for local artists

A free workshop is being held in Wangaratta on 1 June to help local artists build their skills in applying for artwork opportunities with Inland Rail.

Exterior of Wangaratta Railway Station

Wangaratta station.

An initiative of the Inland Rail Skills Academy, the workshop is aimed at artists submitting an expression of interest in delivering public artworks within the Wangaratta Station Precinct.

Expressions of interests are now open for sculptural work by a First Nations artist at the station entrance, two-dimensional work for the new underpass wall and sculpture work in the rail yard garden.

The art has been commissioned as part of the Heritage Interpretation Plan for the station. Local, emerging or mid-career artists are encouraged to apply.

Curatorial themes, artwork locations and selection criteria can be found in the artist brief.

Industry experts will deliver information on how to submit an expression of interest including an overview of the process and what makes a successful application.

The Inland Rail Skills Academy facilitates training opportunities to build capacity within local communities.
