Benalla Station access and carpark changes
Timing: current
Inland Rail is undertaking works to upgrade Benalla Station Precinct.
During these works, there will be changes to the station access.
Until Benalla Station reopens at the end of the year, temporary facilities will be in place from the Railway Place side of the station.
What to expect:
- temporary V/Line ticketing, car park and coach facilities off Railway Place
- the station building and existing platform off Mackellar Street will be closed
- pedestrian access across the rail line is via Nunn Street level crossing.

Mackellar Street lane closure
Timing: From 1 September 2026
Inland Rail is installing new drainage and kerbing and continuing construction of the new Benalla Station carpark and forecourt.
During these works, temporary traffic changes will be in place along Mackellar Street.
There will be a single-lane closure on Mackellar Street, with one-way traffic between Carrier and Byrne streets. Traffic will be required to travel through this section in a westerly direction, with only left turns from Carrier, Nixon and Smythe streets.
Access to residential properties will be maintained.
