Withcott State School students are building confidence in using Inland Rail sponsored iPads, carrying out research for their science subjects.
The school received a sponsorship from the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program in late 2020 to purchase iPads for use in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) lessons.
Using iPads as learning tools has proven popular with students and teachers, however with a limited number of devices teachers found it difficult to deliver a consistent experience learning experience for all students.
With Inland Rail’s support, the school has purchased an additional eight iPads and now all students receive the same interactive learning experience including researching, saving images, and creating multimedia presentations for targeted audiences.
The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program has provided more than $666,000 in grant funding for worthy community initiatives; of which, more than $195,000 in grants have been awarded to Queensland community groups.
There are four annual sponsorship rounds – the next round of the program is open until 31 October 2021. Please email IRCommunitySponsorships@ARTC.com.au for terms and conditions, and to access the application form.
