Wangaratta Station Precinct works – extended working hours
From 3am to 9pm on Monday 30 October, our contractors McConnell Dowell will continue construction works in and around the Wangaratta Station Precinct.
Work being done
McConnell Dowell will continue construction works in and around the Wangaratta Station Precinct with extended working hours between 3am and 9pm Monday 30 October during an 18-hour track possession.
Works include piling (drilling deep into the ground) for the platform elevator shafts and underpass ramps, and the upgrade of 252 metres of rail track next to the station platform.
New power services to the station will be connected, redundant power poles removed, and drainage works undertaken.
Most of the works will be within or near the station precinct, with minimal impact to road users in the area.
What can I expect?
- approved vegetation removal within the project area
- traffic management in and around Green Street, Cusack Street, Spearing Street and Norton Street, when required
- ground excavations in various locations
- trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- noise from construction machinery and equipment operating onsite
- pedestrian access across the station is via the Docker Street footbridge.
Machinery used
- heavy and light vehicles including trucks,
- cranes,
- loaders,
- excavators and rollers
will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- reducing vehicles required onsite.
