Track and piling works (out-of-hours works), Wyndham Avenue, Forbes, March 2024
Inland Rail will undertake track works in the rail corridor under the Wyndham Avenue bridge, Forbes, during a statewide track possession starting from 6am Saturday, 9 March until 10pm Tuesday, 12 March 2024. These works may be continuous, including night works during this period.
Work being done
- Traffic control set-up
- Delivery of plant using heavy vehicles
- Track removal and reinstatement
- Piling works
Most of the works will occur during a scheduled ARTC track closure, when trains are not running. This is to ensure the safety of construction personnel.
Traffic control will commence set up on Wyndham Road from Tuesday 5 March 2024. This is to facilitate the delivery of an additional piling rig.
What can I expect?
- Heavy vehicle movements:
- Before and during the works, heavy vehicle movements may increase from the Newell Highway, north and south, into Wyndham Avenue.
- Motorists and pedestrians are asked to please use caution when driving or walking in the area.
- Traffic controllers will be available to direct traffic where needed.
- Noise from the piling activity
- Rail track machinery and construction equipment operating on site during the hours noted above.
- Some of these works will be noisy. You may hear noise from the piling rig, truck engines and other noise from machines.
- Unfortunately, some construction activities are inherently noisy which cannot be avoided. Properties near the construction site can expect to hear:
- drilling noise from the piling rig activity
- loading, unloading or moving equipment and construction materials
- Lights may be used but will be directed away from residences.
Machinery used
Equipment used for work includes but is not limited to piling rig, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, crane, rail tamping machines, heavy and light vehicles, oxy welder, generators, lighting.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic controls will be in place to assist motorists as needed.
- Water carts will be on-site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
- Works programmed to best minimise noise impacts. We will aim to minimise noise from the works.
- Use of non-tonal reversing alarms on all equipment and turning off equipment when not in use.
- Regular maintenance of plant and equipment to reduce emissions.
- Instructing workers to keep noise to a minimum and being respectful of our neighbours.
- Works will be monitored to ensure compliance with Project Approval Conditions.
