Border to Gowrie project update December 2021
2021 was a milestone year for the project with the Border to Gowrie draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) released for public comment earlier this year. Read on for a snapshot of the year that was and what we’re looking forward to in 2022.
December 22, 2021
While COVID-19 continued to keep everyone on their toes for much of the year, it was wonderful to get back out into our local communities when we could.
During 2021 we:
- hosted 25 community events
- had 2060 individual conversations
- supported five Community Consultative Committee (CCC) meetings (including combined Inner and Southern Darling Downs CCC meetings)
- distributed nine electronic newsletters to more than 25,000 recipients
- undertook 54 targeted Indigenous engagement.
Next year we’re looking forward to:
- continuing to work closely with communities along the alignment
- working with the Queensland Coordinator-General to respond to draft EIS submissions
- supporting ‘meet the contractor’ forums where local businesses and suppliers can meet our preferred contractor for the Northern Civil Works Program, BHQ Joint Venture.

Out and about
Late last month, we had the privilege of feeding the small army of volunteers who turned out to help the Inglewood homes and businesses inundated by floodwater. Armed with a car full of bread rolls, meat, drinks and a BBQ, our Toowoomba office team were pleased to help the community in this small way.
Our thoughts remain with those who have been affected by recent weather events. We wish you a safe summer ahead.
