Temporary site establishment Avenel Road, Seymour 26 August – late-September 2024
Specialist contractors will undertake site surveys and investigation works at various locations within the rail corridor between Seymour-Avenel Road and the Hume Freeway, Seymour.

Specialist contractors will undertake site surveys and investigation works at various locations within the rail corridor between Seymour-Avenel Road and the Hume Freeway, Seymour.
Temporary site establishment
To facilitate the works within the rail corridor between Seymour-Avenel Road and the Hume Freeway, Seymour we will be:
- Establishing a temporary site on vacant land off Avenel Road, Seymour
- Workers will enter and exit the rail corridor via a level crossing on Tarcombe Road.
Other activities will include:
- Surveying the Hume Freeway bridge and the railway track at multiple locations within the rail corridor
- Locating and mapping underground services using non-destructive digging (NDD)
- Borehole drilling using a small truck mounted drill rig to take soil samples for testing and assessment. Once the works are complete at each location the hole will be filled.
During this time pedestrians and drivers are asked to take care and observe all traffic management instructions and signage.
Works area
What can I expect?
- Works 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm Saturdays
- Round-the-clock works within the rail corridor from:
- 10pm Friday 30 August to 4am Monday 2 September
- 6am Saturday 14 September to 6pm Monday 16 September
- Traffic management will be in place at the Tarcombe Road level crossing to facilitate vehicle and pedestrian movement. Please observe all traffic management instructions and signage
- Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- Workers using machinery, equipment, hand tools and service vehicles operating at each site
- Nearby residents may hear some noise during this time and can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.
Cancellation of works
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
Machinery used
Small truck mounted drill rig, elevated work platform, NDD truck, support vehicles, workers using hand tools and survey equipment, traffic management equipment and
signage.

- Access to private properties will be maintained.
