Signalling works Tallarook and Kilmore East (including night works) 14 – 16 September 2024

McConnell Dowell will undertake works on new rail signalling infrastructure within the rail corridor in the Tallarook and Kilmore East areas to create sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains.

Work being done

McConnell Dowell will undertake works on new rail signalling infrastructure within the rail corridor in the Tallarook and Kilmore East areas to create sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains.

Works include:

  • Removal of existing signal cantilever structure
  • Installation of new signal cantilever gantry arm
  • Testing and commissioning of new signals.

What can I expect?

  • Round-the-clock works from 6am Saturday 14 September to 3pm Monday 16 September
  • Construction noise during the day and night
  • Use of generators and light towers. These will be directed away from residential properties
  • Vehicles entering and exiting construction sites at the Dockerys Road, Tallarook and Dry Creek Road, Kilmore East level crossings, which may cause minor traffic delays
  • Heavy machinery and equipment operating on site
  • Delivery of materials and equipment.

Machinery used

  • Hi-rail plant such as excavator, piling rig, dump truck and non-destructive digging trucks, and light vehicles will be used within the work areas
  • Hand tools used for cutting / grinding metal.

How we're managing impacts

  • Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
  • Environmental controls will be in place
  • Directing light towers away from residential properties
  • Mobilising equipment from the rail line.
