Wangaratta Railway Station and Green Street bridge works September 2024
Inland Rail will continue construction in and around Wangaratta Railway Station and Green Street bridge during September.
Work being done
Works at Wangaratta Station will include:
- Construction of the pedestrian stairs, ramps and lift shafts
- Construction of new western carpark
- Electrical connections and upgrades
- Construction of the new western platform and canopy
- Drainage protection works
- Fire hydrant works and testing
- Platform furniture installation.
Works at Green Street bridge will include:
- Delivery and assembly of bridge superstructure
- Lifting the bridge deck in place
- Bridge abutment and retaining wall works including shotcrete (concrete spraying) and backfilling.
Works area
What can I expect?
- Construction work 6am-7pm Monday to Sunday (7 days)
- Night works to complete electrical connections within the station building Saturday 14 September 9pm-6am
- Traffic delays during the delivery of the oversized bridge structure items
- Noise from construction machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- Ground excavations in various locations
- Approved vegetation removal within the project area
- Green Street bridge closed between Norton Street and Roy Street West, with detours in place
- Traffic management when required which may cause minor traffic delays.
Machinery used
Heavy, oversized and light vehicles including concrete pump trucks, trucks, large cranes, dump trucks, loaders, excavators and rollers will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic management in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Environmental controls in place including live monitoring of noise, dust and vibration.
