Track Slew Works, Mangalore, December 2024
Inland Rail contractor McConnell Dowell will undertake track slew works within the rail corridor between Kookaburra Lane level crossing and the Oconnors Road level crossing in Mangalore starting on Monday 2 December to Sunday 8 December.
Work being done
- Cutting rail at required locations
- Slewing / moving track
- Welding, tamping, grinding and track assessment.
What can I expect?
- Closure of the Kookaburra Lane level crossing on 3 and 4 December.
- Noise from rail machinery and equipment operating onsite.
- Delivery of materials in lead up to works.
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site.
- Use of generators and light towers during night works. These will be directed away from residential properties.
Machinery used
Hi-rail plant such as track tampers, excavators, tippers and regulators. Heavy and light vehicles which include trucks, loaders, excavators and rollers will be used within the work areas.
Hand tools such as rail saws and welding equipment.
How we're managing impacts
- Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Generators will be directed away from residential properties.
