Wangaratta Station precinct works February 2024
Construction in and around the Wangaratta Station precinct will continue in February 2024.
Work being done
McConnell Dowell will continue construction works in and around the Wangaratta Station precinct during February.
Station works include utility relocations, drainage works and installing a sewer protection barrier ahead of construction of the new west platform.
Works for the new west track and ground excavation of the western-side stairs for the new underpass will also commence.
Green Street bridge works include the removal of existing streetlighting and the start of bridge piling works. Piling involves drilling deep into the ground to provide the foundations for the new bridge.
The bridge deck will be dismantled during a track possession on 5 February, 2024.
What can I expect
- Approved vegetation removal within the project area
- Green Street bridge closed between Norton Street and Roy Street West with detours in place
- Traffic management in and around Green Street, Cusack Street, Roy Street West, Spearing Street and Norton Street, when required which may cause minor traffic delays
- Ground excavations and excavators breaking concrete in various locations
- Crane lifting operations in various locations
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- Noise from construction machinery, saw cutting and equipment operating onsite
Machinery used
Heavy and light vehicles including trucks, cranes loaders, excavators, rollers and saw cutter will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Reducing vehicles required onsite
- Environmental controls will be in place
