Watermain relocation night work, Short St, Broadford, 20-24 May 2025
John Holland will conduct round-the-clock works around Broadford’s Short Street bridge from 20 to 24 May.
Work being done
Watermain relocation works are required prior to the construction of the new Short Street bridge. These works will involve a bore drilled under the railway lines.
What can I expect?
- Round-the-clock works, 7am Tuesday 20 May to 5pm Saturday 24 May
- Short-term road closure of Rupert Street, near the intersection with Catherine Court, will be required for up to four hours overnight on Thursday or Friday. A temporary detour via Burges Lane and Cameron Parade will be in place
- With Council approval, the bollards blocking access between Burges Lane and Cameron Parade will be temporarily removed to facilitate the detour
- Traffic management will be required in some locations where works are occurring close to roads. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
- Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- These works are expected to generate medium levels of noise with some high levels of noise at times.
Machinery used
Heavy and light vehicles including trucks, excavators, non-destructive digging trucks and a directional drill will be used within the works area.
How we're managing impacts
Traffic management and reduced road speeds
Environmental controls in place for noise, dust and vibration.
Cancellation of works
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
