Inland Rail to deliver major construction works during 96-hour track possession
Inland Rail will use an upcoming 96-hour closure of the Australian Rail Track Corporation line between Cootamundra and Albury to deliver a substantial program of construction works across the Albury to Illabo section in southern New South Wales.

From Friday 11 September to Tuesday 15 September, Inland Rail and construction partner Martinus will carry out essential works that can only be undertaken safely while rail services are suspended.
Construction activities will take place at multiple locations across the region, including Albury, Wagga Wagga, Junee and the Junee to Illabo section.
In Wagga Wagga, the footings of the former Cassidy Footbridge will be removed, drainage and bridge abutment works will take place at Edmondson Street bridge, signalling works will be undertaken at Wagga Wagga Yard, and ongoing concrete works will continue at Pearson Street bridge.
In Junee, work will continue on the Kemp Street bridge and the pedestrian footbridge at Junee Station will be removed, while timber transoms will be replaced at the Olympic Highway bridge.
In the Junee to Illabo section, work will be carried out on the level crossing at Brabins Road, with track and signalling works and drainage, earthworks and culvert installations also taking place.
In Albury, drainage and signalling works will take place in Albury Yard.
Temporary detours will be in place at Yerong Creek throughout the possession.
An Inland Rail spokesperson said:
“The extended track closure gives our teams the access needed to safely complete a significant package of works across the Albury to Illabo section.
“Delivering this scale of work in a 96-hour window requires detailed planning and coordination to make every hour count.
“We thank local communities for their patience and cooperation while this work is carried out.”
