Site investigations – Junee 15 July to 10 October 2024

We plan to undertake site investigations within and adjacent to the rail corridor in Junee and surrounds from 15 July 2024 to 10 October 2024. These investigations are to identify and locate utilities and does not mean approval has been given for major construction to begin on the Albury to Illabo section.

Work being done

  • Utilities investigations involving potholing and use of a vacuum truck
  • Geotechnical investigations using a drill rig.

The investigations will involve boreholes and other groundworks and may sometimes be noisy.

What can I expect?

  • Survey and testing equipment operating will be on-site within and outside the rail corridor during the hours noted above
  • Some of these works may be noisy. You may hear truck engines and engine noise from machines such as the drill rig used to make the boreholes
  • Use of non-tonal reversing alarms on all equipment and turning off equipment when not in use
  • Instructing workers to keep noise to a minimum and being respectful of our neighbours.

Vehicle movements

  • During the works, vehicle movements will be limited to moving equipment on and off the sites. The impact to local traffic will be low.
  • Traffic controllers will be available to direct traffic where needed.

Potential temporary traffic changes

During this work, there may be potential traffic changes, including:

  • Potential temporary traffic control in Junee at Olympic Highway (between Harold Street and Railway Parade) and Pretoria Avenue.
  • Potential temporary traffic control in Junee at Kemp Street (between Edgar Street and Ducker Street) and Seignior Street.
  • Potential temporary traffic control at Olympic Highway and Waterworks Road between Junee to Illabo.

Machinery used

Equipment used for work includes but is not limited to hand tools, excavators, water carts, vacuum trucks, elevated work platform, track machines, drill rigs, heavy and light vehicles.

How we're managing impacts

  • Traffic controls will be in place, where required.
  • Works programmed to best minimize noise impacts.
  • Works will be monitored to ensure compliance with Project Approval Conditions.
