Cootamundra and Junee businesses to learn about Inland Rail opportunities
Local and First Nations businesses in southern New South Wales have the chance to learn how to take advantage of possible supply opportunities on the Inland Rail Illabo to Stockinbingal project with two special business networking events with the project’s shortlisted principal contractors being held in Cootamundra and Junee in the coming weeks.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) Inland Rail has now officially shortlisted three construction firms to deliver the design and construction contract for the Illabo to Stockinbingal project.
The shortlisted proponents are:
- John Holland Pty Ltd
- MBJV, a joint venture between Martinus Rail Pty Ltd and BMD Constructions Pty Ltd
- Regional Trac JV (RTJV), a joint venture between Seymour Whyte Constructions Pty Ltd and Rhomberg Rail Australia Pty Ltd
Representatives from the shortlisted contractors will attend networking sessions hosted by the ARTC, at which local businesses can make their pitch to win future work.
Businesses interested in attending should ensure they have a current, accurate business capability statement and a 30-second ‘elevator pitch’ that describes what their business does, where it is located, and clients they have worked with.
Registration for the events is now open and bookings are essential. Businesses can register their attendance by visiting our events page.

Inland Rail Director Program Delivery Albury to Parkes, Melvyn Maylin said:
‘ARTC Inland Rail is providing new opportunities for local businesses to engage with the Inland Rail program as each section progresses towards construction.
‘These briefings are intended to give as many local people as possible the opportunity to promote their services to our construction contractors.
‘We are inviting local businesses who are keen to be involved in Inland Rail to join us at these networking events, hear from the shortlisted contractors, and meet with representatives from each organisation.
‘Inland Rail is being predominantly delivered in regional Australia, meaning there is a prime opportunity for regional Australia to reap the immediate benefits that come with construction.
‘The relationships that we establish now will also support regions to prepare for the long-term economic opportunities that come with connectivity to this fast, efficient, and cost-competitive freight transport’.
Final selection of contractors
ARTC is now entering a formal Request for Proposal phase to determine which contractor will be chosen to construct the Illabo to Stockinbingal section, which includes constructing around 39km of new rail corridor within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai.
The successful contractor will be required to deliver initiatives and meet targets related to industry participation, employment and workforce development with the Inland Rail team working closely with them to achieve these targets.
ARTC is expecting to award the contract later this year.
