What to expect during the September possession in Victoria
Inland Rail works in Victoria will continue during an 86-hour major track possession in September.
September 3, 2026
Works will be undertaken between Saturday 12 September and Tuesday 15 September across all Inland Rail sites in Victoria, while trains are suspended.
During this time, our construction partner John Holland will demolish the old Marchbanks Road bridge in Broadford and install the new girders for the higher bridge.
When the old bridge has been removed, Inland Rail will have achieved sufficient height and width clearances across 11 of our 12 project sites in Victoria.
Other works occurring during the possession include:
- ongoing construction at the station precincts at Benalla and Euroa including works at the level crossings at Nunn Street, Benalla and Birkett Street, Euroa
- bridge and track drainage works at Tallarook
- track and drainage works at Short Street and Hamilton Street in Broadford
- removal of barriers near the tracks at Wandong.
We understand our works can sometimes cause disruption and we appreciate the community’s continued patience and cooperation while we deliver Inland Rail in Victoria.
