Sharing Wandong design, here’s what we heard

During August and September we shared the Wandong Reference Design with community, listened to feedback and answered your questions.

We had around 120 conversations with the community, stakeholders and local groups about the design to replace the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge to allow sufficient clearance for double stacked freight trains.

In Wandong we’re replacing the bridge with a safer, higher bridge to the north of the existing structure as part of the Inland Rail project.

We heard maintaining access across the bridge during construction is important and you were happy to see the design addresses improved road safety at the Rail Street intersection.

You told us you still had concerns about existing traffic congestion on Epping Kilmore Road and we will explore opportunities to see if we can address these issues.

You are pleased to hear about improvements to pedestrian safety with a new dedicated shared user path across the bridge and the increase in open space connecting to Pickett Walk.

We will continue to refine the design and share this with the community as we take the next steps in building Inland Rail in Wandong.

A construction contractor will be announced in 2024, with construction starting from 2025.
