Out-of-hours work, Junee to Illabo 3 – 5 May 2025

Inland Rail contractors will undertake track and related works within the rail corridor between Junee to Illabo during an extended track possession.

The work will start from 6am on Saturday 3 May until 3am on Monday 5 May 2025. These works will be continuous, including night works during this period.

Work being done

Round-the-clock works include:

  • Delivery of materials and equipment to sites
  • Drainage works including culvert replacements
  • Track related and Excavation works

Temporary traffic changes near you

  • During the works, vehicle movements will be to and from site as well as on site to facilitate earthworks.
  • Both sites will also be accepting deliveries both during and prior to the possession.
  • Traffic controllers will be available to direct traffic to and from site where needed.

What can I expect?

  • Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near work areas, where required
  • Delivery of materials and equipment to site
  • Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
  • Nearby residents may hear some noise and notice vibration during this time. Unfortunately, some construction activities are inherently noisy which cannot be avoided.
  • Additional construction vehicles and workers can also be expected in the area.

At the completion of possession

Construction will return to our standard working hours:

  • 7am–6pm Monday to Friday
  • 8am–6pm Saturday

No work scheduled on Sunday or Public Holidays.

Machinery used

Equipment used for work includes but is not limited to hand-held tools, cranes, cable pulling apparatus, under boring machine, loaders, non-destructive digging truck, vibrating rollers, excavators, woodchipper, drilling rig, water carts, survey equipment, power washer, skid steer, traffic management equipment, heavy and light vehicles.

How we're managing impacts

  • Traffic controls will be in place, where required.
  • Water carts will be on-site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
  • Works programmed to best minimise noise impacts. We will aim to minimise noise from the works.
  • Use of non-tonal reversing alarms on all equipment and turning off equipment when not in use.
  • Instructing workers to keep noise to a minimum and being respectful of our neighbours.
  • Works will be monitored to ensure compliance with Project Approval Conditions.

Cancellation of works

Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
