Powerline and lighting works, Broadford Train Station, 3-7 June 2024
To enable the safe running of double-stacked freight trains additional height clearance between the rail and powerlines is required in some locations along the North East rail line including Broadford Train Station.
Work being done
Inland Rail contractor McConnell Dowell will be removing some power cables and a power pole, installing new poles to create the required clearance and relocating some cables underground.
What can I expect?
- Construction noise during the day
- Temporary changes to the footpath between the station and Ferguson Street, with traffic management to assist pedestrians
- Temporary closure of the footpath between the station and Ferguson Street on 5 June, 9am-3pm, with heavy machinery operating to remove a power pole
- Onsite shuttle bus service available for transportation to the train station for individuals who may require assistance
- Plant and other vehicles entering and exiting the works area, may cause minor traffic delays
- Heavy machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Delivery of materials and equipment.
