Construction update: Latest works in Broadford and Wandong including demolition of Short Street bridge
During a rail possession between 8am 28 February and 11pm 1 March, our construction partner John Holland will demolish the Short Street bridge in Broadford.

The existing Short Street bridge in Broadford (above, left) will be demolished during the February-March possession.
During this time there will be overnight closures of the new Short Street bridge with detours in place via Sunday Creek Road or the Hume Freeway.
Round-the-clock works will occur at Short Street and Hamilton Street sites in Broadford and in Wandong, with weekend day works at Marchbanks Road, Broadford.

Other planned works in March include:
- Works to build the bridge deck
- Drainage works on Epping-Kilmore Road
- Asphalting and line marking on Epping-Kilmore and Wandong roads
- Asphalting, line marking, pavement and drainage works
- Construction of retaining wall and utility relocation
- Continued works on the new roundabout at Hamilton and Ferguson streets
- Construction of pedestrian stairs and ramp
- Bridge retaining walls and deck works
- Piling preparation and piling works
- Under-bore works and retaining wall construction.
Additional road works, traffic disruptions and potential temporary road closures will take place throughout March. Refer to electronic signage for the latest information and follow traffic directions.
The full closure of Marchbanks Road will be in the second part of 2026.
