During the three-month public consultation process, that began on 12 May 2025, Inland Rail held twelve public events, beginning on 29 May in Kingsthorpe, attended by local community residents.
Additional events were held in Brookstead, Pittsworth, Goondiwindi, Inglewood and Yelarbon, before the final event was held in Toowoomba on 16 July.
At each event Inland Rail made available leading experts in hydrology, flora and fauna, noise, and ecology to answer community questions and help residents make a submission to the Office of the Coordinator-General on whether the revised draft EIS adequately addresses the matters raised in submissions on the draft EIS.
With the public consultation period now concluded, the Office of the Coordinator-General and Inland Rail will review the submissions on the revised draft EIS.
Michael Farrell, Project Director QLD, Inland Rail said:
“Inland Rail would like to say thank you to those NSW/Qld Border to Gowrie community members that engaged with the revised draft EIS public consultation, we really appreciate the effort they made in taking part.
“In particular, we would like to thank those in the community that attended our public information sessions as well as those that have made submissions to the Office of the Coordinator-General.
“Inland Rail remains available to answer any questions community members may have on the revised draft EIS via our Community Engagement Team on 1800 732 761 or via email on inlandrailqld@inlandrail.com.au.”
