About the opportunity

RAM Lead – Inland Rail Program level
Location: Brisbane or Sydney

This is a unique opportunity for a visionary Systems Assurance professional to shape the future of Australian infrastructure—leading the RAM strategy on a nationally significant program and driving innovation, performance, and reliability across every stage of delivery.

About the Opportunity:

As the RAM Lead, you’ll drive the Inland Rail Program’s RAM strategy across all phases of the project lifecycle—from concept to operations. You’ll analyse, characterise, and lead all aspects of Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) attributes of the Inland Rail Projects and Program, and ensure compliance with EN 50126/50129 and ISO 55000 standards.

Your work will directly influence the program’s ability to meet its Service Offering reliability targets.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Own and implement the Inland Rail RAM Strategy
  • Develop consolidated and periodic RAM reports for various forums and audience
  • Establish and maintain RAM models to capture the targets and performance of the work packages, using tools like Isograph
  • Guide System Assurance deliverables including RAM Analysis Reports and Demonstration Plans.
  • Facilitate a RAM Working Group and mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate across Program Function, Delivery Projects, ARTC, and other stakeholders
  • Support Independent Certification and Independent Safety Assessor as required
  • Ensure compliance with Inland Rail’s CARE values, IMS, EMS, and safety standards

About you

To thrive in this role, you'll bring high-level conceptual and analytical skills, with a proven ability to tackle complex issues and develop creative, practical solutions to organisational challenges and opportunities.

Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering; CPEng, RPEQ, or INCOSE CSEP (or working towards)
  • Experience in RAM/System Assurance on large infrastructure projects (rail preferred)
  • Proficient in RAM tools (e.g. Isograph) and techniques (RBD, RAM apportionment, prediction)
  • Experienced in FMEA, FMECA, FMEDA, FTA, FRACAS,
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering, safety, reliability, and assurance standards
  • Familiar with system design process, data analysis algorithms, and probability and statistics.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, technical writing, and influencing outcomes
