About Inland Rail

The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

In your role as a Stakeholder Engagement Advisor with Inland Rail, you will play a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships and collaboration among a wide range of Stakeholders. Your work will be essential in ensuring that the Inland Rail project is developed with the input, support, and understanding of the community it serves.

Responsibilities will also include, but not be limited to:

  • Arranging community engagement events including sourcing quotes, booking venues, website updates, graphic design, printing and distributing.
  • Developing content for a range of communications collateral including newsletters, e-newsletters, advertisements, posters, flyers, media releases, briefing notes, social media, website and social pinpoint in consultation with the communications team.
  • Attending and supporting community events, shows, information sessions and community consultative committees.
  • Managing enquiries and complaints including interactive online mapping tools.
  • Supporting and attending landowner meetings.
  • Assisting in obtaining land access approvals and supporting the property acquisition process.
  • Developing Working collaboratively with the relevant project stakeholder leads, property team, environment team, project team and relevant consultants to develop collateral for engagement activities

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator with relationship-building skills and the ability to manage diverse stakeholders. You will need to be adaptable, a strategic thinker who solve problems proactively while balancing competing interests with diplomacy and empathy.

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of communications tools to support community engagement.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of digital media and digital technologies to support community engagement.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders in politically sensitive environments.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills including the writing and delivery of strategies, plans and communications materials.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the flexibility to adapt and manage shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (advanced Excel)
  • Drivers Licence – Class C

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Experience in stakeholder and community engagement ideally within infrastructure, transport or logistic sectors or demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Understanding of agricultural practices.
    A degree in communications, government, public relations, agriculture or a related field.
