John Holland gets ‘construction ready’ in Victoria

Our Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 contractor John Holland has feet on the ground and high-vis in the rail corridor, getting construction ready to build Inland Rail in Victoria.

But what does get ‘construction ready’ mean to local communities and what’s the best way to stay informed?

Investigations and survey works are the first step in preparing sites for when construction starts.

John Holland have started these early activities at the eight Tranche 2 sites in Benalla, Euroa, Hume Freeway sites in Seymour and Tallarook, Short Street, Hamilton Street and Marchbanks Road Broadford and Wandong.

These investigations are undertaken to understand ground and soil conditions and to identify locations of existing underground services, including telecommunications, water, electricity, drainage, sewage, and gas.

This detailed mapping of the area helps John Holland progress designs, minimising impacts during construction.

We’re committed to keeping local residents, businesses and other important stakeholders informed of our works and do this by:

  • distributing works notifications to our nearest neighbours
  • updating our website
  • local newspaper advertising
  • community shopfronts and drop-in sessions
  • social media
  • emails to our subscribers.
