Transport services

We know how important this bridge is for the Junee community. That’s why we’ve been working closely with Junee Shire Council, Junee Community Transport, Junee Buses, Transport for NSW and local residents to make sure everyone can stay connected while the bridge is closed.

To help minimise disruption and ensure access is maintained, the following services are available throughout the closure:

Community shuttle service

  • A free east-west shuttle service, running daily to help all residents stay connected.
  • Accessible for school-aged children, elderly residents and people with mobility needs.
  • Operates on a simple “hail and ride” system with temporary signs at each stop so you know where to wait.

Timetable

Weekdays

  • Morning peak: every 30 minutes, 7am – 10am
  • Off-peak: hourly, 10am – 3pm
  • Afternoon peak: every 30 minutes, 3pm – 6pm

Saturdays

  • 7am – 12pm, every 30 minutes
  • 12pm – 6pm, hourly

Sundays

  • 8am – 12pm, every 30 minutes
  • 12pm – 6pm, hourly

The timetable will be reviewed regularly and updated in consultation with the community.

Taxi vouchers

For trips outside of shuttle hours (e.g. early morning, evenings, or late at night), eligible residents will be able to use taxi vouchers.

Who can access vouchers?

  • Residents who need to travel from one side of the railway line to the other.
  • Priority is given to people who are transport-dependent, elderly, have mobility needs, or special circumstances.

How it works

  1. Request vouchers through Junee Community Transport
  2. Provide your details to confirm eligibility
  3. Collect your vouchers from Junee Community Transport
  4. Book a taxi as usual and hand over a voucher as payment.

The voucher system is flexible and will be reviewed regularly to make sure it meets community needs.

School bus services

  • Existing school bus services will continue, re-routed via the Olympic Highway level crossing.
  • There are no changes to school bus passes or how families apply.

Dedicated student shuttle

A free shuttle just for eligible students affected by the Kemp Street closure will:

  • Run during peak school start and finish times
  • Connect students from both sides of town
  • Coordinate with school timetables.

Passes for the student shuttle (and information about the pass application process) are available through the schools.

Students can also use the free community shuttle on weekends.
