Narromine to Narrabri: What’s ahead in 2026
Our momentum will keep building, with a busy roster of works planned for 2026. These activities, which are endorsed by the Australian Government, will help us finalise project scope and cost for future government consideration.

Narromine to Baradine
Using data from field studies like geotechnical investigations and soil erosion testing completed in 2025, we’ll refine engineering designs for the 198km southern segment of the alignment.
Hydrology specialists have already started updating our flood models, which will inform decisions about the type and quantities of drainage structures needed to ease impacts. In coming months we’ll share our findings with impacted landowners and consult with locals about what infrastructure will look like near them.
Baradine to Narrabri
Our focus in 2026 will be on completing field investigations between the Baradine and Narrabri. These include geotechnical investigations; detailed surveys; contamination investigations; construction water investigations; utilities investigations; soil erosion testing; heritage assessments; ecology due diligence and biodiversity surveys.
The whole Narromine to Narrabri alignment
Our property team will progress voluntary property acquisition negotiations where possible and work closely with landowners to achieve positive outcomes.
We’ll also be preparing various submissions and management plans to revise our construction approach and meet our conditions of approval.
As always, you’ll see us at our usual roster of local agricultural shows and events, a vital part of how we stay connected with the many towns and communities along the Narromine to Narrabri section.
Finally, in the new year we will stand up a Community Consultative Committee, in line with the project’s conditions of approval. We will be in touch with more information about how you can get involved via this channel and a comprehensive communications campaign in February 2026.
