Inland Rail construction pattern is modifying the station precinct in Benalla.

Temporary Nunn Street level crossing closure
Timing: 20 April – 11 May 2026
Inland Rail is upgrading Benalla’s Nunn Street level crossing and installing new pedestrian safety features.
Works will include realigning the rail track, upgrading signalling and fitting pedestrian safety barriers.
To complete these works, the Nunn Street level crossing will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians between Monday 20 April and Monday 11 May.
Vehicles will be detoured via Mitchell Street and heavy vehicles via Faithfull Street.
An accessible taxi shuttle service will be available for pedestrians who need to use the level crossing. The free shuttle service will operate between 8am to 8pm and on call between 8pm and 8am. The service will travel between Ackerly Avenue and Nunn Street via Mitchell Street.
Shuttle service pick-up and drop-off locations will be located on Ackerly Avenue and outside the North Eastern Hotel on Nunn Street.

Benalla Station carpark and bus changes
Timing: 9 – 19 April 2026
The Benalla Station carpark will be partially closed with limited parking.
The V/Line bus drop-off and pick-up areas will be relocated to Mackellar Street.
Pedestrian access to the station from Mackellar Street will be maintained.
Please allow additional time to purchase tickets and access the V/Line bus areas on Mackellar Street.

Benalla Station carpark and bus changes

Inland Rail is undertaking works to relocate the rail line and upgrade Benalla Station Precinct.
Passenger train services will not stop at Benalla Station. Coaches will replace all passenger services until a temporary carpark and the new platform open on the Railway Place side of the station later this year.
The station carpark and access road will be closed, with designated accessible and on-street public parking available along Carrier Street.
The V/Line bus drop-off and pick-up areas will be relocated to Mackellar Street.
Pedestrian access to the station will be maintained.
Passengers will still be able to purchase tickets at Benalla Station.

The Benalla Railway Station underpass is closed. Pedestrian access is via Nunn Street and Mackeller Street.
For your safety, please observe all signs and traffic management. These changes are needed as we build Inland Rail in Benalla.
