Narrabri to North Star Phase 2 section update – June 2024

Since our last update in March, we’ve completed our operational noise mitigation consultation and submitted our assessment report and recommendations to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. We’ve also finalised other technical reports, including Hydrology, as required under the planning approvals process. Last week, we also held our regular quarterly Community Reference Group meeting in Moree.

First GrainCorp train to use upgraded line north of Moree

Another major milestone has been reached on the Narrabri to North Star section of Inland Rail with the first GrainCorp train in more than six years traveling on the track north of Moree, to load canola from the GrainCorp silos in Croppa Creek (around 60km northeast of Moree).

Narrabri to North Star Phase 2 operational noise consultation to start in early 2024

Early in the new year we will be consulting with residents near the rail line in Moree, north of Alice Street, about potential impacts from noise once Inland Rail becomes operational. We want to inform residents about the possible noise levels at their homes and understand their views on noise mitigation options available to them.

In late November, the NSW Department of Primary Industries confirmed the detection of three red imported fire ant nests in South Murwillumbah in north-eastern New South Wales, 13km south of the Queensland border.
