Inland Rail brings drone technology to Yelarbon State School

Our Inland Rail team recently visited Yelarbon State School for a fun and educational morning showcasing drone technology and how these devices are used on Inland Rail.

Thirty-five enthusiastic students joined their principal and staff on the school oval to see our drone demonstration up close.

The Inland Rail team showcased the impressive DJI Matrice 600 pro multirotor drone (equipped with a LiDAR sensor) and the Delair UX11 fixed-wing drone. The team explained how these high-tech devices deliver precision aerial surveys and topographic mapping across large land areas to assist the planning and construction phases of projects like Inland Rail.

The kids were full of curiosity, asking lots of questions about how the drones worked, what information they collect, and how they help make projects like Inland Rail possible. The team was thrilled by their interest and engagement.

Inland Rail is proud to connect with local communities, inspiring the next generation to explore science, technology, and engineering.

This visit is part of a broader series of surveys being conducted in the region between the NSW/Queensland Border and Whetstone. Survey data is crucial for planning the future design and scope of Inland Rail in the region.

A big thank you to everyone at Yelarbon State School for their warm welcome and enthusiasm!
