About the opportunity

Are you passionate about driving excellence and ensuring the highest standards in engineering delivery? At Inland Rail, you’ll play a pivotal role in one of Australia’s most transformative infrastructure projects. As a Quality Engineer you will assist the Completions Manager in the Project Delivery of Operational Readiness, Configuration Management, Delivery and Handover of the program of works within scheduled timeframes, meeting quality expectations and within a safe manner.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review and approve contractor quality documentation, including management plans, audit programs, and reporting metrics
  • Assess quality records for design and construction deliverables, ensuring compliance and completeness
  • Monitor non-conformance reports (NCRs), lot status, and operational readiness deliverables
  • Conduct competency checks to verify personnel qualifications and training
  • Release hold and witness points, ensuring proper notification and documentation

 Operational Readiness & Handover

  • Maintain Deliverable Tracking Registers
  • Maintain lessons learnt registers and support continuous improvement
  • Liaise with stakeholders and third parties on quality and handover activities
  • Participate in defect walks, acceptance and closeout of defect registers and assist with phase gate closeouts
  • Review contractor operational readiness and handover deliverables
  • Support configuration change management and documentation for the
  • Configuration Change Board

Project Coordination & Performance

  • Coordinate inputs from internal disciplines to align with contractor activities
  • Review contractor safety, construction, and quality documentation for compliance
  • Monitor project performance against KPIs and assist in resolving site-related issues
  • Conduct site inspections and support the delivery of A2P Enhancement projects
  • Assist with scope deviation reporting and configuration change documentation

About you

Ready to raise the bar in engineering delivery while contributing to a culture of collaboration, initiative, and excellence.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Proven experience in quality assurance and implementation within major Infrastructure project
  • Knowledge of work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage compliance risks
  • Valid Class C Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to site as needed
