Join one of Australia’s most ambitious infrastructure programs and help shape the future of freight transport. Inland Rail is seeking a confident and capable Senior Contracts Administrator to take ownership of complex contract administration across major engineering and construction packages.

About the position:

As a Senior Contracts Administrator, you’ll be a key commercial partner to the Project Delivery Team, ensuring contracts are administered with precision, integrity, and strategic foresight. You’ll manage high-value contracts, guide junior administrators, and be a trusted advisor on contractual matters.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting contract administration across engineering and construction packages
  • Oversee progress claims, payment certificates, and variation valuations
  • Draft and review contract documentation to mitigate risk and support project success
  • Liaise with contractors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to resolve disputes
  • Ensure contractual obligations around insurances, securities, and levies are met
  • Support monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and accruals
  • Maintain contract registers and ensure commercial data integrity
  • Champion ethical practices and contribute to a respectful, inclusive workplace
  • Mentor and support more junior contract administrators

About you

We’re looking for a commercially savvy professional with strong leadership qualities and a collaborative mindset. You’ll be confident navigating complex contracts and comfortable working across teams to drive outcomes.

Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, law, engineering, quantity surveying or related discipline
  • Proven experience in senior contract administration within major infrastructure projects (preferably Rail industry experience)
  • Strong understanding of contract law and construction agreements
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract/finance systems
  • Experience managing contractors and suppliers against performance criteria
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Security of Payment Acts
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills
  • Exposure to Incentivised Target Cost (ITC) contracts (Desirable)
