On the tools at Croppa Creek School

To mark National Schools Tree Planting Day, in early August members of Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 Stakeholder Engagement team joined staff and students at Croppa Creek School to plant an avenue of native trees and shrubs outside their school.

During construction of the Croppa Creek Bridge, some key trees in the common area of Buckie Road across from the Croppa Creek Store were removed to allow for machinery to access the site and for sight lines to be maintained for Inland Rail.

Our project team worked closely with the Croppa Creek community and Gwydir Shire Council to understand the most appropriate replacement trees. The trees, which were chosen by the community and funded by Inland Rail, comprise a mix of native species which will attract birds and provide a shady and colourful welcome into the community.

Students at Croppa Creek School really enjoyed getting their hands dirty and were very proud of their gardening efforts, whilst Inland Rail staff and representatives from Gwydir Shire Council downed their usual tools to pick up shovels and help plant the new trees into their new homes.
