Inland Rail inspires the future STEM stars at Euroa, Seymour

Around 70 students from Euroa State Secondary College and St Mary’s College in Seymour had the chance to test their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in October, as part of an Inland Rail Skills Academy partnership with STEMPunks.

STEM Punks is an education program that aims to inspire career pathways in STEM-related fields.

Through hands-on engagement, the program connects industry with schools to raise awareness of career pathways and job opportunities within the STEM field.

Students from years 7, 9 and 10 learnt about the role of AI and automation in shaping the future of freight. They programmed autonomous robotic vehicles and learnt how to solve real-world problems using computer science, algorithms and sensor technologies.

Delivered in schools, the program is based on Inland Rail-related problem-solving scenarios and Inland Rail staff attend to provide real-world connections for students.
