Stockinbingal to Parkes project update

While flooding continues to devastate large parts of southern NSW, our S2P Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Eleanor Falkiner offers her perspective, and we provide contact details for free local mental health services for those impacted. Preparation for early works including utility relocations and material deliveries have been impacted by the floods and these works will now begin in early 2023.

Forbes Railway station

Our S2P project Stakeholder Engagement Lead, Eleanor Falkiner is based at Canowindra and has seen first-hand the devasting impacts the recent floods have had on her small town, around Forbes and other communities along the Inland Rail alignment.

“I feel so lucky to live and work out here, despite the flooding, as these times have shown me the true strength of our communities and the willingness of people to pitch in and help each other out.” Eleanor says.

“My thoughts are with those who have been severely impacted by these floods and I’m hoping that the coming weeks bring some reprieve from the weather as the clean-up and recovery continues.

“Many farmers are gearing up to harvest what they can and I’m wishing them all the best in what’s been a challenging year.” Eleanor says.

Update on key S2P project milestones

While the recent flooding has meant a delay to some of the early works planned for the S2P project, including utility relocations and sleeper deliveries, these works are scheduled to commence in early 2023, pending road and rail conditions.

Further detail on these works and any potential impacts will be communicated to the community and stakeholders through notifications and local advertising closer to the time.
