Signalling works at Benalla, December 2025.
Inland Rail construction partner John Holland drew on the talent and expertise of hundreds of local contractors and businesses to complete the work schedule, including fencing contractors, concreters, machinery operators, geotechnical teams, electricians, signal technicians, truck drivers, engineers and traffic controllers.
The project installed new signalling lights at the Birkett Street level crossing in Euroa and rewired rail signals at Benalla.
Piling works were carried out at Benalla on the station side of the railway line for the new station underpass and lift shaft.
At the Tallarook site under the Hume Freeway the team delivered new rail sleepers, reinstated ballast and continued piling to strengthen the bridge piers.
The construction of retaining walls and drainage progressed at Short Street and Hamilton Street, Broadford.
Russell Hamilton, Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Project Director said:
“The construction teams have delivered another safe and successful package of track possession works across the Beveridge to Albury project.
“It’s great to see so many workers onsite across the weekend delivering the project.
“The new bridges at Short and Hamilton streets in Broadford are progressing well and the Benalla and Euroa station modernisation projects are well underway.
“It’s also great to see work ramp up on the Hume Freeway sites at Tallarook and Seymour.
“All eight Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 sites will be under construction once major works kick off at our Marchbanks Road site in Broadford next year.
“We thank local communities for their patience and cooperation as we carry out the transformative works.”
