Wangaratta’s Green Street bridge superstructure lift, in photos

Inland Rail has achieved another milestone in Victoria, successfully lifting the Green Street bridge superstructure into place.

A 650-tonne Superlift crawler crane, which towered above the Wangaratta skyline this month, was used to install the 200-plus tonne steel bridge structure.

About 150 people turned out to watch the bridge lift, excited to see the progress continuing at Wangaratta.

Green Street bridge is being replaced and the tracks have been lowered to allow double-stacked freight trains to use the line.

The new Green Street bridge will be opened by the end of the year.

Check out the pictures of the crane as it manoeuvres the bridge with exact precision.

A view, taken high in the air from a drone, shows a very tall crane towering over the landscape. It is lifting a massive blue bridge span intoplace over two railway tracks.
