Inland Rail’s construction partner John Holland is undertaking works to realign the rail tracks and lower them by two metres at the lowest point under the Hume Freeway bridges at Seymour and Tallarook.
During these works, a consistent stream of heavy vehicles will be moving material around local roads.
Seymour truck haulage route
Timing: April – May 2026
At the Hume Freeway bridge in Seymour, we’re realigning the rail tracks and lowering them by about 1.5m at the lowest point under the bridge.
Lowering works will extend up to 1.6km along the rail corridor.
During this time a consistent stream of heavy vehicles will be moving more than 47,000 tonnes of material around local roads.
Material will be transported round-the-clock for about three weeks along Seymour-Avenel Road, Avenel Road, Goulburn Valley Highway and Hume Freeway.
Tallarook truck haulage route
Timing: April – May 2026
At the Hume Freeway bridge in Tallarook, we’re realigning the rail tracks and lowering them by about two metres at the lowest point under the bridge.
There will also be modifications to the existing bridge pier and abutments.
Lowering works will extend up to 1.4km along the rail corridor.
During this time a consistent stream of heavy vehicles will be moving more than 77,500 tonnes of material around local roads.
Material will be transported round-the-clock for about three weeks along Sanctuary Road, Sharps and Taylors Road, Tallarook-Pyalong Road, Gairns Lane and Main Road.
