The Narrabri to North Star section of Inland Rail will upgrade 189km of existing rail corridor and construct approximately 2km of new track near Moree, New South Wales.
This is the second section of Inland Rail to enter construction, following the commissioning of the Parkes to Narromine line, in September 2020.
Narrabri to North Star crosses the three local government areas of Gwydir, Narrabri and Moree Plains. Due to its scale and complexity, it’s broken into two phases to enable first phase of construction to begin while planning and environmental approvals are gained for the second phase.
Phase 2: Moree to Camurra
The project comprises 14km of existing rail track and formation across the Mehi-Gwydir floodplain and the construction of around 1.6km of greenfield rail track to bypass the existing Camurra Hairpin. The proposal also includes a 1.3km spur to reconnect the Weemelah line.
