Ground investigation and vegetation removal works Marchbanks Road, Broadford, April 2025
Approved tree and vegetation removal and ground condition surveys will be undertaken in and around Marchbanks Road bridge in April 2025.
Work being done
- Surveys will be undertaken to locate, map and understand the ground conditions and underground services around the Marchbanks Road works area, including roads along High Street and within the rail corridor. These surveys are expected to continue throughout the year.
- Road maintenance works on the entrance road to the project worksite at 231 High Street
- Installation of delineation fencing around the works area and next to the rail corridor
- Approved tree and vegetation removal at locations close to the rail corridor and along the road reserve close to Marchbanks Road bridge.
What can I expect?
- Works 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm Saturdays
- Traffic management will be required in some locations where works are occurring close to roads
- Access to residential properties and businesses will be maintained
- To ensure the safety of drivers and workers, a section of High Street near the entrance of 231 High Street will be reduced to a single lane with shuttle-flow during road maintenance works. Please observe all traffic management instructions and signage.
- Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- Medium levels of noise with some high levels of noise at times. Nearby residents may notice some vibration
- Nearby residents can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles.
Cancellation of works
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
Machinery used
Non-destructive digging truck, small truck mounted drill rig, excavators, tipper trucks, cranes, support vehicles, compaction rollers, asphalt equipment, loaders, graders, workers using hand tools and survey equipment, traffic management equipment and signage.
How we're managing impacts
- Traffic management and reduced road speeds
- Environmental controls in place for noise, dust and vibration
- An arborist will assess all trees before removal
- All vegetation will be inspected by a qualified wildlife handler for wildlife before tree removal works commence
- If fauna is encountered, works will cease until a wildlife handler has safely relocated the animal.
