Cassidy footbridge: Temporary pedestrian access changes

Inland Rail and construction partner Martinus have installed a temporary footbridge at Cassidy Parade, Turvey Park, as part of ongoing Inland Rail works. This structure will allow pedestrians to continue crossing the rail corridor safely while the existing footbridge is demolished and replaced.

The temporary footbridge will be accessible from Cassidy Parade and Fox Street, Wagga Wagga.

Access from Brookong Avenue will be closed during demolition and construction, with a detour available via Fox Street and the Sturt Highway.

The temporary footbridge will open at 8am on Saturday 30 May 2026, maintaining pedestrian connectivity throughout the works.

Demolition of the Cassidy Parade footbridge is expected to commence from Monday 1 June 2026 and be completed by late June 2026, subject to track access and rail operations. Timing may change at short notice.

As the footbridge spans the rail corridor, demolition will take place while the line remains operational. Crews will carry out the work between train movements under strict rail safety controls.

Cranes and excavators will dismantle the existing bridge in small sections to ensure public safety and protect rail assets.

The new Cassidy Parade footbridge will be higher and will include new accessible ramps, anti-throw screens and handrails for enhanced safety and useability.
