To provide sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains, Inland Rail and construction partner McConnell Dowell:
- relocated the east track to form a new west track, improving connectivity between the town and the station
- added a new western platform and carpark, providing new infrastructure to the community
- replaced two footbridges with a safer and more accessible pedestrian underpass
- replaced Green Street bridge and lowered the tracks.
