Wangaratta Railway Station and Green Street bridge works August 2024
Inland Rail will continue construction in and around Wangaratta Railway Station and Green Street bridge during August.
Work being done
Works at Wangaratta Station will include:
- Excavation and construction of the pedestrian stairs, ramps and lift shafts
- Water main and fire services relocation
- Construction of new western carpark
- Electrical connections and upgrades
- Construction of the new western platform.
Works at Green Street bridge will include:
- Construction of crane platform required to install bridge deck
- Abutment and retaining wall works
- Assembly of the bridge deck.
Works area
What can I expect?
- Construction work 7am-7pm Monday to Sunday (7 days)
- Noise from construction machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- Reduced number of station car parks until the 16 August, during fire hydrant relocation works
- Ground excavations in various locations
- Approved vegetation removal within the project area
- Changes to pedestrian access via the Docker Street footbridge are in place
- Green Street bridge closed between Norton Street and Roy Street West, with detours in place
- Traffic management in and around Green Street, Cusack Street, Roy Street West, Spearing Street and Norton Street, when required which may cause minor traffic delays.
Machinery used
Heavy and light vehicles including concrete pump trucks, trucks, cranes, dump trucks, loaders, excavators and rollers will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic management in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Environmental controls in place including live monitoring of noise, dust and vibration.
