Sharing the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge design
In Wandong, we’re replacing the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge with a new higher structure to the north, to allow sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains.
Between 24 February and 24 March, we’re pleased to be sharing the latest design and listening to your feedback.
View the design
With construction set to begin later this year, we’re sharing the latest design which incorporates your feedback.
You’ve told us improving road and pedestrian safety, minimising impacts during construction and the extension of Pickett Walk are important to you and we’ve improved the design to deliver these outcomes.
Our construction partner John Holland will be available to talk with the community about next steps and what to expect in Wandong.

How we’ve listened
Thanks to your feedback the community benefits of the design include:
- wider lanes and intersection improvements on both sides of the bridge, making it safer for all
- improved pedestrian access including separated shared use path across the bridge, connecting with the surrounding network of footpaths
- additional open community space extending to Pickett Walk
- new seating, picnic table and pathways
- maintaining access across the bridge during construction.
Thank you for helping shape the new Broadford-Wandong Road bridge design.
Pickett Walk extension
Community feedback has helped inform the design of the Pickett Walk extension.
We’re including:
- a landscaped palette featuring more flowering plants
- more bench seating and a picnic table
- network of pathways
- seating area that captures local views
- ways to recognise local history and the railway.
