Progress
The Victorian section of Inland Rail includes upgrading 262km of existing rail track between Beveridge, north of Melbourne, and the Victoria-NSW border at Albury-Wodonga.
Works are happening at 12 sites along the North East rail line, and are being delivered in two parts, called ‘tranches’.

John Holland is our construction partner for Tranche 2 works. Construction has started and will be undertaken across eight sites in Benalla, Euroa, Seymour, Tallarook, Broadford and Wandong.
Inland Rail construction in Victoria will be completed in late 2027.

Tranche 1 Construction Progress
McConnell Dowell was our construction partner for Beveridge to Albury Tranche 1 works. Construction occurred at Glenrowan, Barnawartha North, Wangaratta and Seymour. Works were also undertaken to relocate tracks, raise signal gantries and modify overhead powerlines along the North East rail line to provide sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains.
Construction on the Beveridge to Albury Tranche 1 sites is now complete.
