Progress


The Victorian section of Inland Rail includes upgrading 262km of existing rail track between Beveridge, north of Melbourne, and the Victoria-NSW border at Albury-Wodonga. Works are happening at 12 sites along the North East rail line, and are being delivered in two parts, called ‘tranches’.

Tranche 1 Construction Progress


McConnell Dowell is our construction partner for Beveridge to Albury Tranche 1 works. Construction is occurring at Glenrowan, Barnawartha North, Wangaratta and Seymour, as well as relocating tracks, raising signal gantries and modifying overhead powerlines along the North East rail line.

Construction is scheduled to be completed late 2025.

Construction on the Beveridge to Albury Tranche 1 sites is progressing. We are tracking construction progress at key work sites against completion targets.

Tranche 2 Construction Progress


John Holland is our construction partner for Tranche 2 sites works. Construction will be undertaken across eight sites in Benalla, Euroa, Seymour, Tallarook, Broadford and Wandong.

John Holland are undertaking early works, site investigations and finalising designs, with construction starting in 2025.

Inland Rail construction in Victoria will be completed in late 2027.
