Lockhart
Inland Rail is a 1600km freight rail line connecting Melbourne and Brisbane that will transform how goods are moved around Australia.
We’re upgrading 185km of existing rail track between Albury and Illabo at 24 sites, including two within the Lockhart LGA, to allow double-stacked freight trains to pass safely and ensure everyday products can be delivered faster and more reliably.
The Rock Yard
The existing steel signal gantry and adjoining signalling infrastructure will be modified to allow for vertical clearance for double stacked trains.
Works commenced at The Rock in September 2025.
Yerong Creek Yard
The Main Line will be slewed to allow for horizontal clearance for double-stacked trains.
